When asking me (Jenny) about my dream job as a young girl, my answer would have been the same as the one I give you today, to be a chef and bring joy into peoples lives with food. 

My fondest memories today are of playing in my amazing ‘fisher-price’ toy kitchen, serving my family raw pasta or the occasional plastic sandwiches.

When I was old enough, I followed my Mama and Granny around the kitchen trying to learn all the skills and tricks they could teach.

I started to get more excited by cakes, pastries & everything sweet, leading me to complete a two and a half year apprenticeship in a well known patisserie (or Konditorei in German) just outside of Munich. In that time, I learned all the fundamental skills needed for my future as a pastry chef. After completing the most gruelling yet educational years of my professional career, I started working at the oldest cafe/patisserie in Germany located in Regensburg and further expanded my knowledge in kitchens, bakeries and patisseries in Australia and Wales.

With over ten years of experience and skills gained in the industry, I am very excited to run our very own home bakey, making bespoke cakes and bakes.

Of course I couldn’t have done any of this without the support of my little helper, my amazing partner who has guided me along the way, managing the webpage and just being an all around superstar! He has a full-time job but still manages to buy supplies, lend a helping hand, provides a second opinion, washes dishes and being a bottomless scraps desposal unit. 

Maybe one day I will take him on as my apprentice…. but he (Morgan) has a long way to go.
